Tweed, Canada’s largest marijuana producer, announced today in a press release that the company has launched the sale of “a variety of top tier seeds, under its HomeGrow Collection banner.”
The company said the collection “Consisting of 10 cannabis varieties ranging from low & high THC to CBD options,” stating, “the HomeGrow Collection is designed to meet the needs of a variety of patients managing a variety of symptoms.”
“Our goal is to offer a wide selection of cannabis products in a variety of formats, from dried bud and blends, to oils,” said Mark Zekulin, President of Canopy Growth Corporation (TSX: WEED), Tweed’s parent company. “We know there is demand for high-quality cannabis seeds and we have long supported the patient’s individual right to grow their own medicine so this is a special day for our company.”
Authorized medical patients that are interested in home growing or designating a grower, and have obtained their ACMPR Registration Certificate from Health Canada, can access starting materials such as seeds and clones from licensed producers, which are the only legal source in Canada.
Other than Prairie Plant Systems offering seeds for sale to a small number of patients under the old MMAR program, Tweed is the first licensed producer, since the prohibition began – approximately 93 years ago, to commercially sell legal marijuana seeds in Canada to authorized patients.
