Today is 420! The day that many wonderful people across the world rally together to celebrate and smoke the herb. It is also a day to shed light on the harms of the prohibitionist mentality that has seeped into our psyche and culture – for the past 90 years, or so. Harms that have devastated countless lives of otherwise lawful and peaceful citizens of this planet.
We would especially like to give recognition to medical marijuana patients that have had to endure unjust laws and stigmatization.
Today we take back our rights and liberties to consume cannabis. Today we walk the streets and smoke weed openly and peacefully.
There are several exciting things to celebrate, and to partake in, on this April 20th.
The introduction of the Cannabis Act, Bill C-45 into the Parliament of Canada. Legislation that will legalize recreational marijuana for adult consumption, in the summer or fall of 2018.
Today, Canada is to be especially celebrated, as this country looks to be taking the necessary steps to institute evidence based, harm reduction policies that are more sensible and balanced than the failed and harmful prohibition.
The following are details for some of the 420 festivities in Canada. Enjoy!
