The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) announced yesterday that they have selected 13 Canadian licensed producers to supply the upcoming recreational market on October 17 – when the legal sale of marijuana commences in the province.
The AGLC said they have “been diligently working for months to select the right partners to bring legal cannabis to Alberta, in a safe and responsible manner while continuing to offer choices Albertans can trust.”
The following chart features the 13 companies that were selected from the 31 respondents that expressed interest. The AGLC said they will continue to engage with new producers, as they become licensed by Health Canada, specifically local Alberta-based producers.
|7 Acres/The Supreme Cannabis Company||Maricann Group Inc.|
|ABCann Global||MedReleaf Corp.|
|Aurora||Starseed Medicinal Inc.|
|CannTrust||UP Cannabis Inc.|
|Canopy Growth||Weed MD|
On October 17, Alberta’s adult cannabis consumers can purchase directly from the AGLC at albertacannabis.org, and can expect products to be delivered by Canada Post and Purolator.
Niaz Nejad, COO and Vice President of Gaming & Cannabis at AGLC commented “The AGLC is committed to providing the Alberta market with access to federally regulated cannabis in a safe and fiscally responsible manner, while helping to shrink the illicit market. We are confident that those we are working with will help us fulfill our responsibilities to Albertans.”
